Tonight I’ll Sing My Songs Again

I’ve had a weird relationship with music ever since my dad died. I used to sing all the time. In the car, sitting at my desk, in the shower, everywhere. Am I a good singer? Oh heck no. But after he passed… no. I hardly could even listen to music, if I’m being honest. Any music I listened to had to be fast and loud. No ballads or slow songs. But over the past week, I’ve been humming to myself. Singing bits and pieces of songs. My go-to seems to be old Simon and Garfunkel songs. They remind me of trips with my parents when I was younger and we mostly listed to music from the 50s-70s. But I think it’s good. I think maybe it’s part of my healing process. Or maybe music is just so ingrained into me that no matter what happens, eventually I find my way home.

Coming Out Of The Dark

Hello, loves. Well. This was a mess of a month. *laughs* Of course, I have never been one for Novembers, which those of you who have read my blog for a long time know all too well. But this November? Yikes. But unlike past Novembers, I took time to really work on myself and, more importantly, just rest. I usually try pushing through everything I’m going through, and I’ve learned that maybe that’s not always the best option. Sometimes you just need to step back, step away from everyone, and retreat into your own tiny bubble while you rest and think and just take care of yourself. I did exactly that, and I feel like I’m better for it. It’s like waking up. It’s like taking a huge breath after holding it for so long. It’s like coming out of the dark. Am I “all better?” No. Of course not. But today? Today feels good. I hope you are all taking care of yourselves, too.

The Road Goes On Forever

Hello loves. Well… in the saga of my “Worst Year Ever,” I spent the end of August and beginning of September sitting with my mom in the hospital. Some of you might remember a few years ago that I had to stay overnight with her in the hospital because she needed a blood transfusion because of her anemia. This was the same, but so much worse. With the death of my dad, both she and I pretty much stopped doing basic life necessities. It was even worse for her, and had she not had the strength to call for help… I don’t even want to think about it. And the fact that she was in the same hospital my dad had been in really threw me. But the hospital is a good one, and we met many outstanding medical professionals who got her back up and healthy enough again. She’s doing a ton better, physically and mentally, and I’m grateful for that.

As for me…I’m not great. It would be easy for me to say “I’m ok!” and move on with my day, but I’d be lying. I think I will be ok one day. I’m doing grief counseling. I’m trying to take care of me. The road goes on forever, doesn’t it?

I’m Still Breathing

Hello loves. Well, it’s another trip around the sun for me. This has been a really awful summer for me. Yesterday, my sweet Holly passed over the Rainbow Bridge. To say that I am devastated would be an understatement. I really would like to just be done with this year. But I’m still breathing. So here’s to another year. May it be better than the last.

Hello loves! Let’s face it. While in quarantine, a lot of us are eating a little bit more than usual. I mean, why not, am I right? We’re in a pandemic! Eat the cake! *laughs* I heard someone say they were gaining the Quarantine 15, and I laughed because wow, relatable. At least I can do SL quarantine with my love, and he doesn’t mind if I order everything on the menu!

How Sweet It Is

Hello loves! I hope all of you are having a fantastic start to your month! I have said it before, but I don’t usually go by the real season start date. To me, spring starts on March 1st! So yay! Winter is OVER!

Life Is A Work Of Art

Hello loves! So apologies for any rambling right now. My allergies are REALLY bad and I’m slightly doped up on allergy meds. 🙂

One thing I have always said about Second Life is that it is like walking into someone’s art every day. Just think about all of the amazing artists we have around here! And honestly, all of us are in some way an artist. Maybe we don’t sit in front of Blender or Maya and make mesh, but we can use what is create to create our own art. And that could be anything from a photograph to just decorating a region or a house to be something fantastic. It’s amazing, all the possibilities we have to be creative.

If you have not been to Anthem or The Liaison Collaborative this month yet, you really need to go. Get some items to create your own art!

You Got That Red Hot Kinda Love

Hello, loves! I hope everyone is having a great start to their February! I know, not everyone is into Valentine’s Day or the corporate hype behind it, but I actually love February just because I’m all kinds of into pink and red and hearts and flowers and candy! I also love that the valentine thing can either be super cutesy and frilly, or just red hot. Love!

Speaking of red hot, no, I didn’t go redhead for this photo! The lighting turned my blonde hair red! It’s kind of a different look for me, isn’t it? But it’s just the lights!

Anthem started yesterday and I am obsessed with basically everything there. It’s a “short” round because it’s February and it’s a short month, so be sure you get out there soon so you don’t miss out!

I Am Unwritten

Hello, loves! Happy new year! Are you ready for a new year of lovely things and shopping and photos and fun? Me too!

The Liaison Collaborative has opened for a brand new round and it’s a good one! It is designer’s choice this month, so there is much to see.

Also, if you are not part of the Anxiety group, you should get in! They have a big box FULL of backdrops and skyboxes for only 77L!! They are their older work but as you can see with this backdrop I’m using, they are still super awesome! I know for me, stores that create backdrops and photo sets always have my heart because they make creating blog photos soooo much easier! The group is 77L to join, but super super worth it!
