Tonight I’ll Sing My Songs Again

I’ve had a weird relationship with music ever since my dad died. I used to sing all the time. In the car, sitting at my desk, in the shower, everywhere. Am I a good singer? Oh heck no. But after he passed… no. I hardly could even listen to music, if I’m being honest. Any music I listened to had to be fast and loud. No ballads or slow songs. But over the past week, I’ve been humming to myself. Singing bits and pieces of songs. My go-to seems to be old Simon and Garfunkel songs. They remind me of trips with my parents when I was younger and we mostly listed to music from the 50s-70s. But I think it’s good. I think maybe it’s part of my healing process. Or maybe music is just so ingrained into me that no matter what happens, eventually I find my way home.

I Keep Asking Why

In grief therapy, they tell you often that being creative and expressing your feelings through art is huge. Something about art therapy helping get your emotions out without you having to speak. I guess I sort of get it. There have been a million times in this very blog where my photos aren’t just “Hi, look at my outfit.” I’m not sure I’ve ever really been that kind of blogger. I like to tell a simple story in a simple picture. But I’ve been so creatively blocked in the past almost 3 months. It’s so hard to express yourself through art when your grief is almost the only thing you feel most days.

But then I thought, “Why do I have to be creative? Why can’t I just put out what I feel or even what my days are like?”

I have 3 kittens. They’re almost 6 months old now and I love them so much. They are, most days, the only things that really get me out of bed. They are curious and funny and they force me to remember that life goes on, even on your worst days.

What’s Wrong With Being Confident?

Hello loves! I hope everyone has had a lovely week. It’s almost the weekend! And it’s almost March, which is crazy to me. January seemed to last 16 months, but February has just flown by!

No, your eyes don’t deceive you. My hair is darker today! I’ve been rocking the darker hair ever since I did a bit of an avatar update this week. I am really loving the new look. It’s a little different for me, and you all know I don’t change up my general look too often, but sometimes change is good!

But Hey, We Do It In Style

Hello, loves! No, your eyes do not deceive you. It’s two posts in a row! Also, I think I’m going to try something new out. I’ll be putting the credits for my items on my flickr photo. So back in my early early Second Life days, wayyy back in 2006-2007 on another account, I used to love shiny clothes. Latex and leather, especially. But in those days, the people who could REALLY draw believable shiny textures… well, you could count them on one hand. A lot of highlights on clothes were just white stripes. It was a rough time, my darlings.

Now when I see how gorgeous leather is, especially on my new Blueberry leggings with the attached boots, I am just in shock. These look amazing even without advanced lighting on! But of course with it on, it’s something even more special. How lucky we are that we have the chance now to really look wonderful!

Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself

Hello, beautiful ones! I hope everyone has had a most wonderful start to their September! Do you go by official starts to seasons? I almost never do. September means fall to me! And since fall has started, I’m getting the itch to get a new house! I don’t know why I go through this so often! But I just want something smaller and cozier than what we currently have. Do you know of any new homes out there that I might like? I’m looking for at least 2 bedrooms, and yes, I need a bathroom. I know, I know. Some people think it’s silly but I just like my houses to have a bit more realism to them. If you know of any new beautiful homes out there, let me know!

Life Is A Masterpiece

Hello, beautiful ones! So I have been on a Sims 4 kick lately. It’s been almost the only game I have played (aside from playing a couple of others with my sister) in the past couple of weeks. If you follow me on Twitch, you know that it’s basically the only game I have streamed in a while. I’m sure I’ll go back to streaming other games at some point, but for now, Sims is really fun! BUT, I will say that it makes me miss my Second Life photos! And of course, all the beautiful clothing and hairs I have here in our world!

Speaking of beautiful clothing and hair, Uber has started and oh man, look at my outfit today! Truth has new hair textures, Blueberry named an outfit after me, and it’s a good day for shopping!

I Know I’m Worth It

Happy Monday, beautiful ones! I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing weekend. As you all know, I’m all about the self care lately. I went a really long time without doing much that was nice for just me. I kind of felt like I didn’t deserve it. I’m truly working towards that, and working towards just being who I feel like I want to be rather than being someone different for every person in my life. It’s slow going and I definitely have setbacks, but in the end, I know I’m worth the work.

Speaking of being worth it, you need to head out and get some shopping done! There are so many wonderful things to buy!

I’ll Rise Up

Hello, beautiful people! I have been playing around with lights lately after watching this amazing tutorial from Daeberethwen. I do use projectors and lights in a lot of my photos anyway, but I primarily use Beev’s tutorial on soft/diffused lighting. If you’re someone who is wanting to make your photos better and you’re unsure how, just go to YouTube! We have so many amazing photographers who have made tutorials on how they do certain things to make their photos. I know I have learned so much from watching them. The best part, I feel, is that no one says “You have to do it this way.” You can learn from one person and learn from another and mix it all together to make something that works for you. It’s art!
